Mike Huckabee Withdraws
Mike Huckabee's concession of the Republican candidacy really saddens me.
I know a lot of populists out there did not like his position as a former Baptist Preacher and while I don't know Lou Dobbs thoughts, after reading his latest book and his apparent disdain for the evangelist political movement, I feel he mostly ignored Mike's campaign. I wish he would have jumped on board with Mike. Mike's populist stance on fair trade vs. free trade at any cost, his support of the Fair Tax Plan, his pledge to stop illegal immigration and his support of rebuilding the American infrastructure should have rang true with Lou Dobbs fans of every stature.
Mike got a raw deal from the GOP elite, from the right wing talking heads and from the left wing media. He was held to 6 minutes a debate while the failed and financially misguided candidacies of Mitt Romney and Rudy Guliani were rewarded with 20 minutes a debate. Yet every time there was a debate Mike's numbers jumped in the days following the debates. When people saw him and heard him talk, his eloquence and easy going nature won people over. Then they would turn on the "unbiased" media and hear he has no chance. Then they would hear the conservative media calling him liberal and Tax Hike Mike and they would follow like sheep even to the point of voting for Hillary in TX and OH. Wow!
The Right wing talking heads should have been ashamed of themselves calling him Tax Hike Mike and calling him a liberal. These are the same tactics as the dreaded so called fly by media. Just throw it out there in sound bites and snippets and see what sticks. The GOP better come to it's senses pretty quickly and court the conservative evangelical base that put them in office in the first place or they will lose the general election and so much more. Conservatives put their man in office nearly 8 years and now that they had a candidate of their own, the party turned their backs on us and expect us to fall in line and vote for Mr McCain/Fiengold/Kennedy/Liberman. I'm not so sure this will happen this time.
This election cycle has been very telling of the GOP and how close they really are to their Democratic nemeses. Both are only interested in special interests lobbyists and their money and keeping their power at any expense and regardless of what they say they believe in.
