Slick Obamie?

Slick Obamie? Sure it doesn't have the same ring as Slick Willie but I can assure you this guy is slicker than old Slick Willie himself.

Obama has begun running ads that say he does not take money from Big Oil corporations or lobbyists. Of course you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Factcheck.org, tells us that's just a technicality:

  • Obama has accepted more than $213,000 from individuals who work for companies in the oil and gas industry and their spouses.
  • Two of Obama's bundlers are top executives at oil companies and are listed on his Web site as raising between $50,000 and $100,000 for the presidential hopeful.
  • It's true that Obama doesn't take money directly from oil companies, but then, no presidential, House or Senate candidate does. They can't: Corporations have been prohibited from contributing directly to federal candidates since the Tillman Act became law in 1907.

So even the feared and hated Bush could have said, "I don't take contributions from oil companies", he couldn't of, nobody can.

Furthermore, by not accepting money from Lobbyists or PACS, he was able to take more money from Chevron. PACS are limited to no more than $5000 per candidate. By accepting individual donations he was able to accept $9500 from Chevron.

His own campaign admits,"that this policy is flawed. "It isn't a perfect solution to the problem and it isn't even a perfect symbol," Obama spokesman Bill Burton has said."

But that doesn't stop the slick Obamie from running a campaign ad claiming that he's "clean" of big oil. I don't old Slick Willie himself, Bill Clinton, could have gotten away with that one.
